The Shippensburg University community donated its time and talent and fundraised more than $16,000 for two area non-profit organizations during its homecoming celebration last month.
On Friday, Oct. 20, students and alumni gave their service to the King’s Kettle Food Pantry. Volunteers stocked shelves and sorted food items for the organization. The pantry provides canned and dry goods to more than 300 families in the Shippensburg community.
Ship’s Army ROTC Raider Battalion raised $2,000 for the Boulder Crest Retreat during its annual homecoming 5k/10k race on Oct. 21. Boulder Crest provides free, short-duration, high-impact retreats for combat veterans and their families. These retreats are structured to improve the physical, emotional, spiritual and economic well-being of our nation’s veterans.
The Homecoming Court raised over $14,000 through fundraisers leading up to and during homecoming weekend. The money was donated to The Harbor of Shippensburg, a sober social place and recovery house.
