Shippensburg University senior Marcus Huertas has been named to The Harrisburg Internship Semester (THIS) for fall 2019. THIS offers students invaluable firsthand experience in state government at the policy-making level.
Huertas, a United States Marine Corps veteran, is one of eleven students selected from across universities in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. The political science major is interning in the Office of the Speaker of the State House, Rep. Mike Turzai.
“Marcus has demonstrated the discipline and dedication that will make him an excellent representative of Shippensburg University, as a THIS student and beyond,” said Dr. Michael Greenberg, associate professor of political science and THIS campus coordinator.
As part of the 15-credit internship, Huertas receives a $3,500 stipend toward living expenses during his time in Harrisburg. Ship students interested in The Harrisburg Internship Semester should contact Dr. Michael Greenberg at MEGree@ship.edu.
