The Shippensburg University Connection AOD Program will host “Jersey Shore” star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and his wife, Lauren, on March 3, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. in the CUB MPR. They will share their experiences navigating the journey of addiction, recovery, the setbacks and the comeback.
The Situation rose to fame in 2009 with MTV’s “Jersey Shore.” Since then, he made appearances on shows including “The Howard Stern Show,” “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien,” “The Jay Leno Show,” “Lopez Tonight,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Conan.”
The Situation was also a contestant on Season 11 of “Dancing with the Stars” and has done a PSA with Bristol Palin to help prevent teen pregnancy. In 2015, Mike and Lauren appeared on “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars.”
The event is funded through a Department of Drug and Alcohol grant Ship received last fall. The grant supports the creation of relatable content and programming that educates students on the consequences of drug and alcohol use.
The event is free and open to the public.
