“Since I began studying at Shippensburg University, the most surprising aspect of the university has been the endless opportunity.”

Those are the words of Seth Edwards, a member of Ship’s class of 2022. Since graduating from Liberty High School, he’s certainly taken advantage of the endless opportunity at Ship. He’s majoring in both the Communication/Journalism, Public Relations Concentration, B.A. and Political Science, International Concentration, B.A. programs. Additionally, he is minoring in history.

“As someone interested in international affairs and global communications, my majors are providing me with crucial experience and training for entering my field. From the classroom to the conferences, my majors are preparing me for ultimate success and the ability to thrive in a career suited for me,” Edwards said.

But pulling double duty with multiple majors is only part of Edwards’ successful journey. He’s also the student trustee for the Shippensburg University Council of Trustees, Student Government Association’s vice president of external affairs, an administrative liaison for the Lighthouse Academy, a democracy fellow for the Campus Vote Project, a member of the College of Arts and Sciences Student Advisory Board, a member of the President’s Student Advisory Council, an admissions ambassador, a Shippensburg University history tour guide and the public relations officer for the History Club.

“I have been exposed to a multitude of atmospheres, interests and leadership,” Edwards said. “These experiences have played a critical role in the crafting and polishing of my personal and interpersonal skills that I can apply to my career and personal life.”

And that’s still not the end of the opportunity Edwards has found at Ship. He’s also been published in Write the Ship and presented research at Ship’s annual Minds@Work conference.

“Upon arriving at Shippensburg University, I was but a collection of rough material, requiring effort, guidance and time to grow and get closer to my fullest potential. Shippensburg University faculty have lit the path for me in both advice and counsel so that I could realize my full potential and seize each moment I encounter.”
