Shippensburg University will join the global community in celebrating International Education Week starting on October 26. International Education Week (IEW) advocates for and celebrates the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. “This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experience,” said the official State website.
This year’s festivities at Ship include a variety of in-person and online events that create a sense of connection with our international community at Ship and beyond.
Monday, October 26 – Community Clean Up along Bird Run
Tuesday, October 27 – Spanish Language Jeopardy and International Karaoke
Wednesday, October 28 – French Language Celebration and Immersion Afternoon
Thursday, October 29 – International Lunch, German Jeopardy and Going Global: Working Internationally

The week will also feature the 11th Annual International Flag Display in the Quad. Each flag represents a nation of origin for a faculty, staff, or student of the Ship family. This year, the campus community is invited to contribute to the IEW flag photo gallery.
Are you an international student studying at Ship? Perhaps you were born outside of the U.S.? Have you spent time traveling, studying, or researching abroad? Do you intend to travel in the future and have a country you want to visit? Do you share pride in your heritage from an international country? Snap a picture of yourself with the flag and upload it here to help us celebrate during International Education Week!
