The Shippensburg University Alumni Relations Office is hosting a virtual mindfulness workshop on February 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. With the on going COVID-19 pandemic and more, anxiety and stress are higher than they were in 2018 (18%). This workshop program helps individuals understand their stress, anxiety and depression and how to deal with them in a holistic manner.
The training content will cover:
- The definition of anxiety, stress, and depression
- What anxiety, stress, and depression does to the body
- How to be mindful
- Breathing techniques
- Meditations
Workshop instructor Cindy Beers spent 18 years in the US Armed Forces and has taught yoga to veterans, teens and adults living with anxiety and trauma. Her work with anxiety culminated in her recently published books, “Mindful Yoga for Teen Anxiety,” “Mindful Yoga for Adult Anxiety” and “Yoga for Mental Health.” Cindy has her Masters in Philosophy from Duquesne University and 500 RYT (200 E-RYT & 300 RYT) is a member of Yoga Alliance.
