If you are looking for fresh quality food, great service and a beautiful atmosphere, then the Appalachian Brewing Company (ABC) is your place. This restaurant presents original and creative dishes with a beautiful quaint look. Located in downtown Shippensburg on King Street, it is the perfect place to relax, chat and eat.
Before I headed out to ABC, I made sure that I loaded money onto my Raider Bucks account so that I could take advantage of the 15% discount. When I arrived at the ABC on a lovely spring day, I absolutely fell in love with the vintage look of the restaurant. The bold brick walls were very bright and tied the brown wooden floors together. I was approached and greeted by the friendly host who walked me to the main dining area for lunch.
I overlooked the menu with homemade desserts and just could not choose but one item. I finally ordered the battered fried fish and chips with a glass of water with lemon.
The presentation of the dish was very well put together with two big pieces of fish on top of fresh french fries with salt. I did not expect the fish to be that large so it is good to know that you are getting your money’s worth. The fish was fried to perfection and very flaky on the inside with parsley sprinkled on the top. The french fries tasted really good with a golden crisp.
Ship sophomore Shaun Mayfield also loves ABC stating “I did not find out about this place until this semester. It’s a nice spot to come chill and hangout. I tried the roasted cauliflower wings and they were really good.”
Junior Ebony Jetter loves one of their popular homemade desserts, the root beer floats. “The fresh creamy vanilla ice cream mixed with the Appalachian root beer tastes heavenly.”
Appalachian Brewing Company is an original member of Shippensburg University’s Raider Bucks program, which offers discounts to Ship students, faculty, and staff at downtown partners. When I finished my meal, the waitress took my plate and Shippensburg ID and scanned it with my bill. It was so easy to get 15%; all students should be using the program.
ABC is an excellent spot for locals and Shippensburg University students. With the semester closing out ABC is a must before we head home for the summer.
Faculty and staff can continue to take advantage of their Raider Bucks discounts all summer long by loading money onto their staff/faculty ID card.
