I write to you today to provide an update on the COVID-19 Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL). On June 10, 2021, the Pennsylvania legislature voted to immediately end the Governor’s Proclamation of Disaster Emergency. Based upon this action, the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) has notified us that this allowance for all faculty and staff will expire on August 1, 2021.
The above action ends the COVID-19 Emergency Paid Sick Leave that was instituted when the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) extended the provisions of the Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL) program after the expiration of the emergency and expanded federal leave programs under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020. The legislative action also ends the allowance that provided Administrative Leave for employees who had exhausted all EPSL and other leave entitlements.
