Shippensburg University will celebrate the accomplishments of undergraduate students during its spring commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Seth Grove Stadium.

The ceremony will feature remarks from Gerard (Gerry) Zack ’81, chief executive officer of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics & Health Care Compliance Association (SCCE & HCCA). SCCE & HCCA is a global organization based in Minneapolis, MN that supports the compliance and ethics profession, with approximately 19,000 individual members across 100 countries.

Zack earned a BSBA in accounting from Shippensburg State College in 1981 and spent the first 10 years of his career in public accounting, initially in Pennsylvania and then in Washington, DC. He later earned an MBA in finance from Loyola University. In 1990 he started his own boutique practice, specializing in forensic investigations and services aimed at preventing and detecting fraud, corruption, and noncompliance with applicable laws. After expanding and then merging his practice into a regional firm, he held a position as a managing director in the global forensics practice of an international firm.

Along the way, Zack earned several certifications – Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional. His work has taken him to more than 20 countries, and he has visited 15 others for vacations.

He served as chair of the Board of Regents for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and served on the ACFE’s faculty for 12 years. He has published three books on fraud prevention and investigation and has written dozens of articles published for magazines and journals.

Zack and his wife, Dr. April Eichmeier, an assistant professor in emerging media at the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, MN, share a passion for global travel and hiking. The knowledge, insights, and appreciation of diverse cultures they have gained through their travels led them to establish the Mr. Gerard Zack and Dr. April Eichmeier College of Business Study Abroad Scholarship with the Shippensburg University Foundation. The scholarship will be available to award in the future.
