Shippensburg University’s president, Dr. Charles E. Patterson, was named the newest member of the Board of Directors of the Team Pennsylvania Foundation (Team PA). As a nonpartisan public-private partnership, Team PA’s Board of Directors is co-chaired by the sitting governor and a private sector leader. Representatives from the public sector include leaders from all four caucuses of the Pennsylvania legislature and the secretaries from four agencies: the Pennsylvania Departments of Agriculture, Community and Economic Development, Education, and Labor and Industry. Representatives from the private sector include leaders of business and industry, academia, organized labor, and nonprofit organizations.
“I am honored to join Team PA and support Pennsylvania’s dynamic and growing economy. Shippensburg University is a strategic partner in this work by preparing, upskilling, and supporting the individuals that are the driving force behind PA’s economy, today and well into the future. I look forward to expanding our impact and the impact of Team Pennsylvania with collaborative and innovative initiatives,” said Patterson.
Team PA is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that accelerates the commonwealth’s long-term economic competitiveness. As the state’s trusted convener, it brings together business leaders and policymakers to capture the transformative economic opportunities that no one sector can tackle alone. Through collaboration and strategic investment of public and private funds, it maximize the impact for the commonwealth and create equity and economic opportunity for all Pennsylvanians.
“This esteemed group of leaders believes in the power of collaboration, and they believe in Pennsylvania,” said Abby Smith, president & CEO of Team PA. “It is not just the impressive titles they hold and the important industries they represent; these are leaders that align with our core values and are committed to accelerating economic growth for all Pennsylvanians.”
Patterson is one of only two university president’s selected from across the state to serve on the board and the only president from Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education.
“We are pleased to welcome such a diverse, thoughtful, and talented group of leaders to our Board,” said Brian Jackson, private sector co-chair of Team PA’s Board of Directors and chair of McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC. “They represent all four corners of the Commonwealth and bring with them a wealth of experience and leadership that will benefit the organization and Pennsylvania’s economy.”
