Farm Show interns take over Ship’s Instagram Story

Shippensburg University’s communications, journalism and media (CJM) student interns are taking over the university’s Instagram story today, January 10, to share the behind-the-scenes from the Pennsylvania Farm Show at the PA Farm Show Complex & Expo Center.

The Farm Show, which wraps up tomorrow, is open today, Saturday, January 10, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and tomorrow, Sunday, January 11, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CJM interns Luke Rainey, Caroline Cooper, Mega Sawka and Cyrus Simmons are showing their experiences working at the state’s largest agricultural event.

Rainey, who double majors in political science and CJM shared his perspective on working as a press intern.

“My primary responsibility is to take photos at events. In addition, I have assisted with social media content and profiled three individuals for the PA Farm Show’s ‘Faces of Agriculture’ feature stories,” Rainey said. “On Monday, I was also honored to have been with Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and his team throughout the morning as he handled several events with media, legislators and other stakeholders in Pennsylvania’s agricultural industry.”

This is Rainey’s first time attending the Farm Show, and he described it as a great learning experience.

“It has also been a great way to meet hundreds of individuals and learn about a critical component of Pennsylvania’s economy and culture. It has been a pleasure to have built relationships with FFA and 4H officers, public officials, coworkers and media members. As a dual major in political science and communication, journalism and media, this has also been a way for me to develop my talents in both of my fields of study.”
