Dr. Jen Clements was accepted and received a scholarship to the 2025 WeCOACH – NCAA Women Coaches Academy in Indianapolis. This is a multi-day growth and development program available to collegiate women coaches in sports. Dr. Ian M. Langella, Professor of Supply Chain Management

Dr. Ian Langella recently published “Modeling supply chain disruptions due to geopolitical Reasons: A systematic literature review” in the scientific journal Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review alongside three coauthors from two Spanish universities. The research project began in 2022, and its relevance has increased uncannily in the past year, as supply chain disruptions from geopolitics have become more commonplace. The article has already been embedded in his graduate and undergraduate supply chain classes, and is freely available to download here.

Dr. Carla Kungl was asked to be a guest editor for a special edition of the Journal of Humanities titled “Telling Tomorrows: Detective Fiction and Popular Culture.” It is due to be published in late 2026.

To respond to the overwhelming issues associated with domestic violence, Randi’s House of Angels (RHOA) has produced a series of podcasts that bring this epidemic to the forefront of public consciousness and break the silence that often shrouds it. Dr. Misty L. Knight is the featured guest for Season 3, Episode 3 to be released Monday, September 15, titled: “Influence of Pop Culture on Domestic Violence: Harmful Tropes and Changing Narratives.”
Dr. Arelys Madero and Dr. Carlos Rojas, Associate Professors of Criminal Justice


Dr. Madero and Dr. Rojas published an article in the Justice Quarterly journal, exploring the impact of collective efficacy, a type of community social control, on crime over time. Their study is among the few that examines this longitudinally, therefore illuminating how changing control processes in a community affect crime, and how crime, in turn, shapes these processes in the future.
Dr. Melissa L. Ricketts, Professor of Criminal Justice

Dr. Ricketts serves the Randi’s House of Angels (RHOA), an organization dedicated to supporting children and families impacted by intimate partner violence. I helped develop Randi’s House of Angels: The Podcast, Fostering Healthy Relationships. Season 3 of the podcast officially launched on August 18, 2025.
RHOA aims to create a safe and supportive platform where survivors, advocates, and experts can share their stories, insights, and expertise. Through a series of meaningful discussions, the podcast provides vital support and resources to victims and survivors, reminding them that they are not alone and that help is available. Beyond individual support, the podcast continues to raise awareness and spark essential conversations within families, communities, and institutions. In doing so, it seeks to empower individuals, cultivate empathy, and inspire collective action toward ending intimate partner violence and building a safer, more compassionate society.

Dr. Wendy Becker published the article ‘The thief within: A case of broken trust and employee theft’ in the 2025 Vol 15, No. 2, International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies. Becker’s Business & Society (MGT 447) undergraduate students helped her edit the case before publication.
Dr. Moayyad Al-Nasra, Professor and Chair of Civil and Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Professor Moayyad Al-Nasra and civil engineering alumni, Eve Nealon and Kayla Vosburg, published a journal paper titled “Study of the Use of Phase-Change Materials in the Development of Self-Heating Concrete: Qualitative Performance Study of Concrete with Evaluation of Mechanical Ramifications” in the American Journal of Engineering Research, August 2025.
Dr. Dave Monaghan, Associate Professor of Sociology

Dr. Monaghan has been invited to address the Annual Meeting of the Council of State Governments, Western Division, on September 18, 2025. CSG is an organization whose members are elected state legislators. His talk will be entitled “Free College/Promise Programs: What they are and what they do”.

Dr. Jonathan Skaff gave an invited talk to the Oxford University Macintyre Society entitled, “Climate, Ecology and Weather in Relations between China’s Tang Dynasty and the Türks (7th-8th Centuries).”
Dr. Matthew C. Ramsey, Associate Professor of Communication Studies
Dr. Matthew C. Ramsey, associate professor of communication studies, had a research study accepted for publication in the International Journal of Business Communication. The article, “Supervisor Humor as a Predictor of Employee Voice and Intention to Quit,” was written in collaboration with researchers from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University and North Dakota State University. The article is currently available in an online-first format. The print version will be available in 2026.
