Milton K. Morgan III ’76

Morgan graduated from Shippensburg State College in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Four years later, he joined the J. Walter Miller Company, the Lancaster foundry established by his great-grandfather in 1887. What began as a one-car-garage operation had grown into a respected manufacturer of commercial brass and bronze castings, and in 1986 Morgan was named president. Under his leadership, the company experienced remarkable growth and strategic reinvention. He guided the organization through a major diversification effort, reducing its reliance on the fire protection industry from 98 percent of production to 30 percent while strengthening its standing as the nation’s leading producer of sand-cast sprinkler heads. Morgan later expanded the enterprise by acquiring a machine shop and launching a consumer products division, positioning the company for long-term success before his retirement in 2016. Morgan and his wife, the late Doreen Morgan, have been among the most visionary and generous philanthropic leaders in the history of Shippensburg University. Their commitment to opening doors for future generations can be seen and felt across campus. The Mr. and Mrs. Milton K. Morgan III Makerspace stands as a vibrant hub of creativity and innovation for students of every discipline, while the Milton and Doreen Morgan School of Engineering has elevated Ship’s academic profile and expanded opportunities for students pursuing engineering and technology careers. Their legacy is one of extraordinary generosity, enduring impact, and a deep belief in the power of education to transform lives.
