“I can’t wait to see what the future holds,” Marie Rodriguez expressed.
On May 9-10, students graduated from Shippensburg University and are moving on to pursue their career paths, further their education and service to their communities. One of the many spring graduates who serves as an example of success is Marie Rodriguez, who will be beginning her career with The Hershey Company after interning with them over the summer on their supply chain finance team.
“I chose to begin my career with The Hershey Company because I had the incredible opportunity to intern with them over the summer on their supply chain finance team,” Rodriguez said. “During that time, I met so many driven and passionate individuals who supported me along the way. I knew it was a company where I could grow professionally and personally, and who wouldn’t love working at the sweetest place on Earth!”
Rodriguez’s experience at Hershey complemented the classroom and hands-on experience she gained at Ship. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Psi and Delta Zeta, where she shaped a strong sense of community and gained leadership skills.
“These past four years at Shippensburg have been so rewarding and provided me with unforgettable memories,” she said. “Being a member of Alpha Kappa Psi and Delta Zeta gave me a community to lean on and the opportunity to develop as a leader.”
Rodriguez also recognized the scholarships that helped support her education. She received the Rim: Dr. Hong & Mrs. Susan Young Scholarship through the SU Foundation and the Shirley Fry Fox Scholarship. Both of these scholarships are awarded to students who exemplify academic success and strong leadership qualities.
She also expressed gratitude to all her professors, mentors and peers for supporting her along the way. As Rodriguez gets ready to begin her career, she leaves Ship with plenty of real-world experience.
