Ship Tank: A Legacy of Innovation at Shippensburg University

Ship Tank, one of the Diller Center’s longest-running and most beloved programs, returned on April 10 to continue its tradition of empowering student entrepreneurs at Shippensburg University. Hosted by the Charles H. Diller Jr. Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation, Ship Tank provides SU students with the opportunity to turn bold ideas into real-world ventures- and win cash prizes while doing it.

Modeled after the Emmy Award-winning show Shark Tank, the event challenges students to pitch their business ideas to a panel of expert “sharks”—a mix of university faculty, business leaders, and community entrepreneurs. This year, eight teams took the stage, each bringing a unique vision, powerful story and plenty of passion.

Over the years, Ship Tank has become a cornerstone of student innovation at Shippensburg. It’s a space where students can explore, grow, and launch, with hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, public speaking, and strategic thinking.

2025 Highlights:

  • Teagan Weaver’s “Presso”, A manual, portable espresso maker, took first place and a $2,000 prize.
  •  Karim Brice’s “True Capture” app earned $1,000 and second place for connecting creatives with clients.
  • The Underground: Arena

A gaming tournament platform by Kade Rush & Daniel Byomujuni, won $750.

Additional winners included TravelTech, ThermoGrip, and crowd-favorite AngelLink, with prizes ranging from $250 to $500.

From idea to pitch to applause, Ship Tank continues to ignite entrepreneurial spirit and showcase the creativity of SU students. Whether students walk away with funding or just fresh feedback, every participant gains something invaluable: real-world experience and a head start on their entrepreneurial journey. At the Diller Center, Ship Tank isn’t just an event—it’s a tradition. And it’s shaping the next generation of business leaders, one pitch at a time.

Ship Tank will return in Spring 2026. Students with a business idea and the courage to pitch it are encouraged to start preparing now!
