Shippensburg University senior Katie Sweigart is heading to NYC this spring as an intern for The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Sweigart announced the news on Twitter this week and caught the attention of over 15,000 people on social media and FOX43 News.
“I’m so excited to work with the best in late night television. This entire opportunity seems so surreal,” said Sweigart.
According to The Tonight Show, the internship opportunity will see Sweigart standing in during rehearsals, assisting with audience load in and production runs and tasks as needed, all while gaining an understanding of what goes into producing a daily late night show.
Sweigart is a communication/journalism major and a member of the Wood Honors College. As a member of the SUTV News team, Sweigart served as executive producer and has held previous internships at WITF and the university.
“I couldn’t have done it without my professors in Communication/Journalism, the Wood Honors College and everyone else at Ship who has been in my corner these past four years.”
