Shippensburg University’s Dr. Joseph Zume, associate professor of geography/earth science, has been appointed to the Cumberland County Planning Commission (CCPC) by the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners.
The mission of the Cumberland County Planning Department is to partner with urban, suburban, and rural communities to implement plans that advance economic development, provide more housing and transportation choices and protect clean air, land and water. The commision is comprised of nine county residents, providing representation from all areas of the county.
“Serving on the Planning Commission is a great opportunity for me to engage in productive service to my community. As a broadly-trained geographer/scientist, I am excited to contribute my time and expertise towards keeping Cumberland County as one of the top five PA counties to live in,” said Zume.
Zume will help with the promotion of strong planning leadership, awareness, responsibility and involvement in county and community issues and planning priorities for transportation, economic development, tourism and other planning organizations within the county.
