Ship alumnus Jake Miller ’10M, social studies teacher in Cumberland Valley School District, was highlighted in the Pennsylvania Capital-Star for his op-ed titled, “From a teacher: What parents should keep in mind about schools reopening“. Miller has penned more than 500 articles on education.
Miller addressed regimented uniformity in wearing masks and supplementing already heavy substitute teacher and staff shortages. He encouraged parents to implore their school to open lines of communication and offer robust online options. He also advises, “do not crowd-source your decisions regarding your child’s education.”
