Do you want to help reward Ship students who are doing their part to stop the spread of COVID-19? Now you can, with the Academic Success Program’s new incentive!

Each week, faculty and staff can submit the names of two students who consistently demonstrate their Raider Respect by masking up. The submitted names will be run through a random name selector, and one winner will be announced each Friday afternoon. Student winners will receive $25 in Flex Dollars.

Dr. Ashley Lewis, director of academic support and associate dean, wanted to do her part to encourage students to make safe decisions.

“I would like to see us continue to reward those students who are acting ethically and responsibly. It is my hope that by doing this, we can collectively model healthy behaviors for our campus community and maybe even the wider community,” said Lewis.

Lewis notes that she is excited to oversee the weekly drawing, and is hopeful that the reward, and the positive example set by the winners will inspire all students.

“We want to see them on campus and we want them all to be safe and healthy.”

To participate, Lewis is asking faculty and staff to submit two student names by Thursday each week with the subject line “Caught showing Raider Respect” to her email at allewis@ship.edu. One new student will be selected weekly until November 20. Winners will be notified by e-mail.

Student winners will be announced each week on shipnews.org with an accompanying personal message for the student body encouraging and educating them on how to show their Raider Respect and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
