Shippensburg University alumni honored for life saving actions

Two Shippensburg University alumni, now Franklin County Adult Probation officers, were honored by department and judicial leaders for their life saving actions. The department commendation life-saving award was presented to officers Travis Newman ’06, and Brooke Alleman ’88. This award recognizes heroism, courage and quick call to action.

Newman and another officer searched for a victim while simultaneously extinguishing a fire in a hotel room. Alleman, assisted by another officer, quickly acted to help an individual that was unresponsive and not breathing. Identifying the medical emergency as a potential overdose, the officers administered two doses of Naloxone before the EMS personnel arrived on the scene.

The acts of bravery and heroism in saving two Franklin County citizens was recognized by Chief of Adult Probation Douglas Wilburne ’06 and several others.
