Senior Alison Wyland ‘21 is heading off on the next step of her journey to become a pediatric physical therapist after completing her degree in exercise science with an applied health science concentration.
For as long as she can remember she’s had a passion for athletics and an curiosity about “how the body works.” This leader her to Ship’s Exercise Science Program, and now she is starting a doctoral program at Chatham University.
She credits Ship for preparing her for this next step in variety of ways. She had access to classes that complimented her career goals taught by top-notch faculty. She served as a tutor for exercise science courses including anatomy and physiology, an experience she credits with helping her stay sharp and master her own coursework.
Her Ship experience was further enhanced by her participation in the Exercise Science Club and as president of the Exercise Science Honors Society. Both organizations provide students with professional development and service-learning opportunities.
Wyland’s favorite part of her Ship experience involved the relationships she built with her fellow Ship mates. “Shippensburg is a great university, and I would recommend it to anyone. The faculty members are incredible, and you will meet such great people!”
