Shippensburg University’s brew science series is back, offering two courses this fall. These non-credit programs are designed for anyone interested in joining the brewery workforce, starting their own brewery or looking to advance their brewery business.

Focus on Flavor: Beer Characteristics, Quality and Sensory Evaluation

This four-part online course is lead by David Kozloski, head brewer and co-founder of GearHouse Brewing and Dr. Alison Feeney, professor geography and earth science and author of “For the Love of Beer: Pennsylvania Breweries.” They discuss proper storage, maintenance and serving to deliver the best possible product to customers. Students will learn how to properly taste and evaluate beer while gaining an understanding of styles, ingredients, production methods and serving questions. Course cost is $100. Starting a Brewery Workshop

This month long online course is lead by David Kozloski, head brewer and co-founder of GearHouse Brewing Company and Robin Burtner, director of the Small Business Development Center at Shippensburg University. This course covers how to develop a business plan, managing an alcohol business, organizational structure, financing, marketing, licensing and regulations. Course cost is $100.
