Shippensburg University will celebrate the accomplishments of graduate students during a commencement ceremony on Friday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Luhrs Center.

The ceremony will feature remarks from Marva D. Brown ’12-15M, a proud social worker and a supervisor with Justice Works Youth Care. She is also an adjunct professor at Harrisburg Area Community College, where she shares her expertise and experience in social work courses in the Social Sciences Department.

She’s served in various social services roles throughout her career with Dauphin County Children and Youth Services, Harrisburg Housing Authority and the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg.

Marva earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work from Shippensburg University. She is also a Certified Family Recovery Specialist through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

In her spare time, Marva enjoys spending time with her family, friends, her four grandchildren, and binge watching television shows.
