Senior business management major De’Shaun Wilson may have found an opportunity with Enterprise through Linkedin, but he credits his Ship experience for preparing him to launch his career as a management trainee right after graduation in May.

“My Ship experience allowed me to grow through trial and error and allowed me to establish myself as the individual I strive to be. Countless hours of preparation and helping hands allowed me to grow and realize the paths I wished to take to move forward,” said Wilson.

As an active member of the campus community, De’Shaun found opportunities to learn and grow in and out of the classroom.

“My favorite class would have to be Foundation of Business Administration with Dr. Hunt. The class was very well constructed, and she strived to make sure that her class was taught in the best interest of the students,” said Wilson.

He’s especially thankful for the support he received through the Career Center where he found mentorship, workshops that helped him fine-tune his resume and tips on starting his job search. And as a member of Phi Sigma Kappa he gained leadership experience as a member of the chapter’s executive board.

As he looks to the finish line in his college journey he is also reflecting on the longs days and late nights of hard work that led to this special moment, a moment he encourages others to pursue at Ship.

“This is a beautiful place to come and get an opportunity to learn more about yourself, while obtaining a wonderful education. You will meet people who are willing to go out of their way to make sure you are successful,” he added.
