On April 18th, 2024, Shippensburg University’s Department of Athletics and the Career Center collaborated on hosting Competitive EDGE, a networking event specifically for student-athletes. Due to the amount of time and effort that Ship athletes put into their training and games, many of them are unable to attend the semesterly job and internship fairs that the Career Center hosts. Through this event, athletes were provided with in-person access to employment opportunities, internships, and career advice.
This event turned out to be an amazing evening with over 50 students and 20 employers attending. Ranging from first-year students looking to try their hand at networking and building communication skills to seniors securing post-graduation job offers, the event was a great success. We would love to give a huge thank-you to Trejon Dinkins, Ashley Grimm, Miranda Fisher and Alix Rouby for all of their preparation efforts in order to guarantee an outstanding event for our student-athletes and community partners.
