On October 3, 2024, the university hosted its annual Job and Internship Fair. This recurring event is a great way for students to connect with a wide range of employers seeking to fill job openings and internship positions.

The event featured numerous employers such as Clark Associates, Enterprise Mobility, Northwestern Mutual, Target, Volvo, Adusa Distribution, Wagman, Deloitte Consulting, Duie Pyle, JEM Construction, the Common Wealth of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Counseling Services, SEK CPAS & Advisors, UCP Central PA and many more.

The Graduate School at Shippensburg University, along with other institutions across Pennsylvania also had tables at the fair, providing students with information on furthering educational opportunities. 

Students were encouraged to dress professionally and bring a copy of their resumes to share with potential employers. The fair served as a recruiting event where students gain information about career and internship opportunities, discover if their interests and skill sets align with any current openings, build connections and utilize their networking skills. 

Several employers attending the event highlighted their core values and dedication to  community engagement. For example, A. Duie Pyle, represented by Jack Henry and Alexandra Mocharnuk, emphasized its title as a family-owned business in operation for over four decades.

Clark Associates, a leading supplier of food service equipment and goods was represented by Ship alumnus and category manager, Chase Slenker. He noted the company’s partners, including the Restaurant Store and Webstaurant Store, offering a wide range of work opportunities and work schedule options.

Ship alumnus Keegan Fonder, people and culture analyst at Volvo Construction Equipment noted the company’s commitment to connecting with the Shippensburg community, such as hosting high school tours of its local facilities. The Shippensburg branch serves as a global tech hub, containing the headquarters for Sales Region Americas and Operations Americans, museum, training facilities and customer center.

Deloitte Consulting, represented by alumni Zach Semanco and Katelyn Baker, discussed the company’s inclusive culture and work-life balance. Baker emphasized that Deloitte provide a welcoming work environment, hosting weekly catering events and hybrid work schedule options. 

Claudia Rivera Burgos, people and culture manager at JEM Group, highlighted their innovative approach to construction services. JEM focuses on “building to improve lives”, creating spaces within healthcare, education, government and many more. They are also a women-owned business enterprise (WBE) and disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE). 

Employers from various fields engaged with students seeking a wide range of career paths. The event featured representatives in supply chain, finance, consulting, marketing, construction, government, healthcare, social work and numerous other industries. 

The continued support from local and national employers and the hard work at the Center for Career and Workforce Development is what keeps the university’s job and internship fair going each and every year.
