AACSB International extends Shippensburg University’s accreditation

Shippensburg University is pleased to share AACSB International announced they have extended the John L. Grove College of Business’s accreditation. The university has held the AACSB International accreditation since 1981 and was the first school in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education to earn the honor.

“The extension of our AACSB accreditation reaffirms the College of Business’s longstanding commitment to academic excellence, and student success. As we celebrate 45 years of AACSB accreditation, we are proud to continue upholding the highest standards of quality in business education worldwide. On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students at the College of Business, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to President Patterson and Provost Hill for their unwavering support of the college.” said John Kooti, dean of the Grove College of Business.

Achieving AACSB accreditation is a mission-driven, rigorous process that includes an in-depth assessment of internal activities, mentorship with an AACSB advisor, and a peer-reviewed evaluation focused on continuous improvement. During this multi-year path, schools focus on developing and implementing a plan to achieve their mission and align with AACSB’s accreditation standards. These principles-based standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation, research, and teaching and learning.

“It is an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious organization in the world of business education, and it is a testament to the long-standing reputation of excellence that embodies the John L. Grove College of Business. I am grateful for all who made this achievement possible, including the faculty, staff and students within the College of Business, under the leadership of Dean Kooti,” said Dr. Charles E. Patterson, president of Shippensburg University.

The College of business offers an intensive curriculum that is supplemented by hands-on learning and internship opportunities. Undergraduate programs are offered in accounting, business management, entrepreneurship, finance, information systems and analytics, marketing, and supply chain management, and graduate programs in business administration and supply chain analytics. Through 15 student organizations, as well as the Small Business Development Center, the Charles H. Hiller Jr. Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation, the Mr. and Mrs. Milton K. Morgan III Makerspace and the Brad E. Hollinger Stock Trading Room; students are emersed in the world of business at various levels throughout their academic journey.

“I have been continually impressed with the academic rigor that defines the standard of excellence for the College of Business. This extension recognizes their level of excellence and signals to students that when choosing Shippensburg University, they are choosing a high-quality business education that stands among only six percent of business programs worldwide. I am honored to be working alongside all of the faculty and staff who have made this possible and thankful for their continued dedication to the college and the university as a whole,” said Dr. Nicole R. Hill, interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs.
