Shippensburg University is the newest member of the Pittsburgh Promise Preferred College Partner program.
The Pittsburgh Promise Preferred College Partners provide grants for room, board, or books to Promise eligible students who are accepted to the institution, beginning with the Class of 2018. Ship will provide housing scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic year. The $2,000 housing award is renewable up to four years for students who live on campus.
The Pittsburgh Promise, a scholarship program for Pittsburgh Public School students, advocates for improving the quality and access of education and increasing the preparedness and diversity of the region’s workforce. Pittsburgh has the largest Promise program in the United States. Since 2008, The Promise has provided over $111 million in scholarships to more than 8,000 students.
“We’re excited to partner with The Pittsburgh Promise. More importantly, we’re excited to offer paths for student success to Promise students,” said Dr. Donta Truss, vice president for enrollment management and student success at Shippensburg University.
Ship will also provide targeted transition and academic support services to ensure student retention and success. Shippensburg University is the newest of 22 partners.
