The Shippensburg chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America recently attended the 2019 PRSSA International Conference in San Diego, California. At the conference, Ship PRSSA took home the Star Chapter Award for SU’s chapter. To earn this award, chapters must meet eight of the ten requirements outlined by the PRSA foundation.
Ship seniors Vanessa Grzyboski, Brian Iatarola and Sabrina Disney represented their chapter at the conference and heard from speakers such as Bob Woodward, author and associate editor of the Washington Post, Erika Prime, who heads Social and Digital Marketing for Taco Bell Corporation, and more.
According to chapter president Vanessa Grzyboski, the organization conducted a high school outreach for the Shippensburg Area High School, where PRSSA members informed a journalism class about the SU Communication/Journalism program and its PRSSA chapter.
“Receiving the [Star Chapter Award] is very meaningful to our chapter, especially because we are the only PASSHE school to earn this award,” said Grzyboski.
The 2019 PRSSA International Conference was held from October 18-22 in San Diego, California, at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina.
