As we finish up our second week of classes, we hope the busy start of the semester is treating you well. We would like to take this time to welcome a few new faces who have joined our Shippnesburg University community in the past few weeks. Dr. Megan Luft
Executive Director of Admissions

Dr. Megan Luft has more than 15 years of experience with enrollment management and admissions with more than five public and private institutions.   Megan served as Asst Dean/Asst Director of Graduate Admission at Ship from 2016-2018 and most recently as the Director of Admissions and Director of Learning & Development for Enrollment at Noodle, NYC. She brings experience, knowledge, expertise, and education holding a doctorate in education focused on education leadership and accountability. Megan is committed to the student experience and ensuring that every Ship student feels welcomed and accomplishes their goals of graduation. Megan lives in Harrisburg PA with her pugs Marshall and Winston.

Dr. Manuel Ruiz

Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Dr. Manuel Ruiz (he, him, his) joins Shippensburg University as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.  He has over 20 years of experience in Higher Education with expertise in teaching, assessment, budget planning, residence life, judicial affairs, social justice, new student orientation, student mentoring programs, entrepreneurship, career development, internships, and event planning.  His scholarship focuses on critical race theory.  Additionally, he is involved in College Student Educators International(ACPA), Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA), and National Association for Continuing Education (NACE). Dr. Ruiz joins us from McDaniel College, where he was the Director of Student Development Programming.

Laurie Porter, SHRM-CP

Director of Human Resources

Laurie Porter has been in education for 16 years, with the last 10 years in Human Resources at Chambersburg Area School District, serving as the Assistant Director of Human Resources.  Prior to that,  Laurie was a paralegal in a local law firm for 10 years.  As an adult learner, Laurie earned her undergraduate degree in 2016 from California University of Pennsylvania, Laurie has the SHRM certification from the Society for Human Resource Management. Laurie lives locally, in Newburg, with her husband and their 11 year old daughter.  They also have two sons who live in the area.
