Dear Ship family,

Last year, Governor Wolf designated Friday, June 19, 2020 as Juneteenth National Freedom Day, a special holiday for all employees in agencies under the Governor’s jurisdiction, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

Today, we learned Chancellor Greenstein has designated tomorrow as a special holiday across the State System. All Shippensburg University offices will be closed and classes are cancelled tomorrow as we honor our commitment to social justice and equity in our society. As previously planned, the university’s orientation will be held as scheduled.

Please join me in honoring this day by taking a moment to pause and reflect.

Laurie A. Carter, JD

President
