Study.com ranks Shippensburg University’s Communications, journalism and media program a Best Degree Program in Journalism for 2021. Ship landed at number seven on the list of 50 schools from across the nation. To formulate the ranking list, Study.com reviewed journalism programs based on their career resources, quality of education and faculty.

Accredited by the Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication for the last ten years, Ship’s program strives to provide a strong balance of theory and practice to prepare students to launch their career as soon as they graduate. By making alumni and professional connections a priority, the program remains forward focused in an ever-changing media landscape.

“Students in the communication, journalism and media major experience small class sizes, passionate faculty and access to professional quality equipment and software beginning in their first year. Student media organizations have been recognized for excellence in journalism, photography, live events production and more by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Pennsylvania News Media Association and the Public Relations Student Society of American,” said Dr. Carrie Sipes, associate professor of communication, journalism and media and department chairperson.

Students in the program can specialize in four concentration areas; public relations, broadcast media production, journalism and visual media.
