Dr. Scott Drzyzga, Geography-Earth Science, recently earned a Remote Pilot certificate from Canada. He can now fly small unmanned aircraft (drones) to capture aerial imagery and video footage across both the United States and Canada. Scott uses digital media to support his research in the upper Great Lakes region and to create content for courses like Geography of the United States and Canada, Economic Geography, Intermediate GIS, and Advanced GIS. The drones themselves are also used to teach students the principles of field mapping and photogrammetry.
