This message is sent on behalf of Andrew Alosi, chair, Council of Trustees.

Dear Shippensburg University Community,

On November 12, 2021, the Council of Trustees took action to begin a search process for Shippensburg University’s next permanent president. As a direct result, a diverse group of dedicated members from throughout the university community were assembled to make up the Presidential Search Committee. The committee met over the past five months determining its path forward as a group and completed the search process leading to a decision to advance a candidate to the Council of Trustees.

Notification was made to me on April 20, 2022, from the Presidential Search Committee Chair, Trustee Doug Harbach indicating the committee recommended moving forward with a candidate. That notification was accepted, and the Council of Trustees of Shippensburg University voted today, April 26, 2022, at a public meeting, to advance Dr. Charles E. Patterson as our recommendation for consideration by the Chancellor and the Board of Governors.

The process will continue as outlined in PASSHE Policy and Procedures, and the timeline for next steps will be determined by the Board of Governors.

As our academic year ends with commencement right around the corner, our attention again looks to the future and the possibilities that exist for success, not only of the university, but for each one of you. As I said months ago, all of you, regardless of your role, bring unique qualities that make up the fabric of this institution. You are deeply appreciated. You are a meaningful part of the Shippensburg University community.

Sincerely,

Andrew D. Alosi

Chair, Council of Trustees
