Routinely, Shippensburg University has been named a Military Friendly® School. Last year, Ship was awarded silver status, and now the university is honored to have earned gold status for the 2024-2025 cycle.
The Military Friendly® distinction aims to facilitate positive outcomes for veterans. Ship is proud to align with the mission of setting a standard for veterans, promoting it and providing positive encouragement for US organizations to fund programs that improve the quality of life for veterans.
According to Military Friendly®, those awarded gold status are “a school who scored within 10% of the 10th ranking school in their category. These employers are setting an example with their programs and initiatives.” Alexandra Karlheim, Director of First Year Experience, Transfer Student Support, and Veteran Verification stated “With this year’s distinction, I am reminded of all our veteran and military-affiliated students who we have served over the years. Every year, the Veterans Benefits Office connects with faculty and staff across campus to ensure our processes fulfill our commitment to being a Military Friendly® institution.”
