Dear Campus Community,
Fall greetings from the SU COVID Office. Join us in celebrating vaccination week coming soon and learn about changes coming to our testing protocols. For more information and other updates, read on.
THE RAIDER COVID VACCINATION INCENTIVE PROGRAM: CONFIRM YOUR VACCINATION STATUS!!!
Attention all students! In partnership with the Shippensburg University Foundation, Shippensburg University is launching an incentive initiative for COVID-19 vaccinated students. Students who provide proof of full vaccination by November 12th are eligible for all of the prizes! Students who show proof of receiving their first shot by November 12th are eligible for some of the prizes.
The Raider COVID Vaccination Incentive Program is offering some pretty amazing prizes. Some of these prizes will be awarded during Vaccination Week (NOVEMBER 8-12th). The rest of the prizes will be awarded in early January. So, it’s not too late to get vaccinated for eligibility in the January drawing. We strongly urge all students to submit proof of vaccination online or directly to Etter Health Center.
Students who provide proof of being fully vaccinated by January 14th will also be entered into another round of possible prizes! The important thing is that we raise our vaccination rate, so that our campus can continue to protect each other and better our community.
VACCINATION SURVEY
We are asking ALL students, staff and faculty to take 2 minutes to fill out our COVID Office Vaccination Survey. We are interested in gathering information on vaccination rates and why our community members either get vaccinated or do not get vaccinated. Please take a little time and fill out this survey: https://ship.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_er4FDb9MKhs4aou
VACCINATION WEEK – TAKE YOUR BEST SHOT!!!
The week of November 8-12th is packed with events, vaccination clinics and educational opportunities regarding the importance of vaccinations in the fight against COVID-19. Stay tuned for more details.
TESTING
Our Testing Format is changing. Since August, we have worked with partner, AMI, in performing PCR tests in the CUB for asymptomatic students, faculty and staff. AMI was brought to us by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. With the reassignment of AMI by the Pennsylvania Department of Health away from Shippensburg University, starting November 1st, our testing protocols for students, faculty and staff are as follows:
- Asymptomatic students and residential students selected to test will Schedule appointments conveniently online Monday-Friday. Beginning November 1st, asymptomatic testing will be conducted at Etter Health Center.
- Students exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms will continue to schedule symptomatic testing at Etter Health Center and should call Etter Health Center at 717-477-1458 to schedule an appointment.
- Faculty and Staff can pick up Abbott BinaxNOW rapid COVID test kits at the COVID Office (located in Old Main 106).
- Student Athletes will work with the Athletic Department for more information on their testing requirements.
GETTING READY FOR HALLOWEEN:
As the community prepares for Halloween, we ask that all students, faculty and staff consider mitigation practices this holiday: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/holidays/halloween.html
Please be mindful of the responsibility we all share in the SU community. Positivity rates are going down nationwide, but to keep those numbers down, everyone should exercise caution and vigilance.
Please avoid larger gatherings, where close contact and risk of exposure to COVD-19 becomes much greater.
Wear your masks over your nose! (cloth masks in addition to your costume masks!
