Dear Faculty and Staff,

As we prepare to embark on a new semester, I wanted to share with you a few important updates.

Dr. Tom Ormond, senior executive vice president of Academic Affairs and provost, has announced he will retire effective June 30, 2022. Tom has dedicated over 40 years of service to education, and we are fortunate to have had his experience and steadfast leadership during some of Ship’s most challenging years. Please join me in thanking and congratulating Tom. His council and insight will be greatly missed.

Dr. Nicole Hill, dean of the College of Education and Human Services, has graciously agreed to fill the role of interim senior executive vice president of Academic Affairs and provost until a search is completed and new leadership is named. I’m confident she will serve the university well during this time of transition. An interim dean of the College of Education and Human Services will be announced in the near future.

Dr. Kim Garris, vice president for External Relations and Communications, will depart for a new role with the PA Fish and Boat Commission at the end of January. Please join me in thanking Kim for her 17 years of service to students and the university as a member of faculty and administration.  Plans for this division will be shared once finalized.

I’m confident we will navigate these changes and continue our work in serving Shippensburg University and our students.

Sincerely,

Dr. Charles E. Patterson

Interim President
