Shippensburg University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with The Milton Hershey School (MHS). The purpose of the MOU is to formalize and expand a partnership between MHS in order to provide focused and sustained support to low-income, first-generation college students.
The MOU outlines responsibilities for each institution that will improve access and information sharing with the common goal of improving MHS student success and degree completion rates.
Ship has committed to providing access to admissions counselors, campus tours and participation in MHS college and career days. Ship recently hosted 91 MHS seniors for a campus tour and application workshop.
MHS students will also be provided with information and single points of contact for financial aid and for Ship’s Academic Success Program. Additionally, Ship will assist MHS students in the transition to college through the Academic Success Summer Bridge Program.
The university will also assist MHS students with obtaining work study and campus employment opportunities.
