Dr. Wildermuth served as moderator and invited commentator for the panel “The Human Nature of Operation Barbarossa,” at the Society for Military History’s annual conference in Arlington, VA, on April 19, 2024, offering remarks on papers entitled, (a) “Trail of Blood: Mapping Army Group Center Officer Losses during the Battle of Smolensk and Beyond,” (b) “How Nazi was the German Solder?
